The Holy Eucharist Print E-mail

The Holy Eucharist is the central act of Christian worship, and its inclusion in the Marriage ceremony is encouraged. However, when a significant number of the expected guests might be expected to decline communion, the Eucharist's intended function of unifying the community as the Body of Christ may serve instead to highlight divisions. In that case, the Eucharist should not be included.

When the Eucharist is not to be a part of the Marriage, the couple may wish to consider celebrating it informally as part of the Rehearsal. In that context, with only families and close friends present, the Eucharist can be a way of marking the solemnity of the occasion and the joining of two families.
