Although our chapter is an integral part of Transfiguration, we’re also members of an international lay order for women, founded in 1885. Women do have a larger role in the church since then, but we’re not a quaint relic of the past. Daughters renew their baptismal vows when they join, and they commit to following a rule of life that focuses on prayer, service, and evangelism. We wear a cross that reminds us of this commitment.

In the past year, Daughters have attended diocesan and regional meetings and conferences. We’ve met regularly, hosted a vigil on the eve of Good Friday, made hats for the homeless, adopted families for Christmas baskets, and enjoyed our yearly luncheon with members of the Altar Guild. We savor the fun and fellowship of these activities, but what binds us to each other and to you is our daily prayer life. We welcome prayer requests and will keep anything you tell us as confidential as you wish. Call or e-mail with a request or put a slip of paper in the collection basket, addressed to DOK.

If you’re interested in attending a meeting or helping with a service project please talk to one of our members. Ideas on how to fulfill that difficult third area of our rule of life (evangelism) are always welcome.

DOK Chapter members at Transfiguration are Barbara Barnes, Josie Carlson, Marianne Dawson, Katherine Hamann, Jan Jaekel, Joan Karrison, Mary Kirby, Janet Pawley, Jeanne Pearson, Ginny Pote, Dorothy Richert, Fritzi Sciaky, Ruth Stamper, Judy Stark, Martha West, and Karen Wirth.
