Flower Memorials are a meaningful way to remember or celebrate and assist the Altar Guild in the preparation of the Sunday Eucharist, or other liturgical events.
To make a flower memorial, simply complete a blue gift card and enclose it with a check in a giving envelope. Gift cards and giving envelopes can be found in the pews or on the table at the entrance to the church. Checks should be made out to the Church of the Transfiguration, with “Flower Memorial” in the memo field. You can leave the envelope in the offering plate, or mail it to the church office.
Your gift is given directly to the Altar Guild fund and the memorial is printed in the Sunday bulletin on the date you have requested. Each Sunday, the Altar Guild prepares the church for the celebration of the Eucharist. Memorial gifts support the costs of flowers, hosts, wine, care of linens and vestments, and purchase of needed altar vessels and equipment.
Flowers are the usual form of memorial, arrangements of greens are used in Advent, and no flowers are used in Lent. A music memorial may be made any time of year.
On occasion, there may be multiple memorials on a Sunday. The Altar Guild displays flowers to celebrate the liturgy and gives great care to keep the sanctuary beautiful for each Sunday. The Altar Guild selects, places, and displays flowers. If something special is requested for display (e.g., color of flowers or type of flower) we will work within the constraints of the liturgical season to accommodate your request.
Flowers for a typical Sunday arrangement cost about $30.00. For this reason we suggest memorials start at about $40.00 to cover additional expenses that occur over the year.
Christmas and Easter offer special times of the year for remembering with flowers. Please use the same envelopes for these memorials. The Altar Guild appreciates your gifts of flower memorials. We work faithfully, to make these occasions beautiful in the name of Jesus. |
