(From January 2005) I have been a member of Transfiguration since 1975. My husband, Ray, and I were married in this church, and we have two children, Shannon and Sean, who grew up in our church community. Over these years at Transfiguration, I have participated in a number of activities. Most specifically to highlight a few, I helped to found the Palos Park Episcopal Day Care and Learning Center and served as the first chair of the board for eleven years. In addition, I served on the vestry, chaired the hospitality committee, taught junior high students in the Sunday school, and most recently served on the rector search committee. My family and I see Transfiguration not only as our place to worship and to grow spiritually but as an extension of our family. We have all formed close friendships here. In my professional life, I am a professor of Communications and Literature and director of Education Programs at Moraine Valley Community College, vice president of the Lemont High School Board of Education, and a member of the Board of Control for the WILCO Area Career Center. My vision for Transfiguration is to increase our outreach to our surrounding communities. We are in one of the largest population growth areas in the Chicagoland area, and we should take advantage of our geographic location in inviting new members into Christian fellowship and into our wonderful, family oriented congregation.
