Information:
(From January 2007) I am single. My family is scattered across the country. My father lives in Ohio where I grew up; my mother passed away several years ago. My two brothers live in Colorado, and my sister lives in California. I have lots of fun visiting all of them! My favorite aunt, my mother’s sister, lives in Chicago, and we see each other frequently. I became a member of Church of the Transfiguration in 1995 and attend the 10 o’clock service. I served on the Vestry from 2000-2003, and am glad for the opportunity to serve again. I have served as Chair of the Adult Christian Formation Committee and as Chair of the Rector Search Committee in the recent past. I meet regularly with the Spirituality Group to discuss avenues of spiritual growth and pray, and am a new member of the Daughters of the King. Before coming to the Church of the Transfiguration, I attended St. Edward’s Episcopal Church in Joliet and St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church in Bolingbrook. I served on the vestry in both those churches, as well as being involved in study groups, working with the youth, and serving on long-range planning committees. My profession is teaching. I teach sixth grade in the Hadley Middle School in Homer Glen, where I have been happily employed for twenty-seven years. If I’m not planning lessons, grading papers, or buying supplies at the teacher’s store, I’m probably riding my bicycle. Bicycling is my passion, and I ride many miles each year with the Joliet Bicycle Club. I also enjoy the opera, theater, reading, and spending time with friends. My vision for the Church of the Transfiguration is for the church to be a place where we can grow in our knowledge of Christ and deepen our faith. I think the Church of the Transfiguration currently offers many opportunities for us to do that. As we plan for the future, one of my hopes for our parish is to attract new families and grow in numbers, as well as in visible ministry in our community.
