Information:
(From January 2007) I became a member of the Church of the Transfiguration shortly after my wife, Joan, and I were married in 1982. Joan had been a long-standing member, attending Transfiguration parish since she was four years old. In 1990 Anna arrived and was later baptized by Father Leach. Joan, Anna, and I reside in Oak Lawn, where Joan teaches at a nearby grammar school and where Anna is a junior (I can hardly believe how quickly time has gone by) at Marist High School. I have served on the Vestry twice previously. I was also a member of the former Adult Christian Formation Committee and chaired that committee for four years. Other service has included attendance at several Habitat for Humanity trips, teaching Sunday school for the Junior High class, and lectoring. In terms of my career I have worked as a biostatistician at the University of Chicago for over 25 years, where I presently hold an appointment in the Department of Health Studies and direct the Biostatistics Laboratory. In the Biostat Lab we collaborate with investigators on clinical trials and other research projects, particularly within the Cancer Center. For recreation I enjoy traveling, reading, playing tennis, and visiting with family and friends. I also like being hurtled down a roller coaster track. Transfiguration is definitely “a place to grow great children.” Our outreach into the community is also something that I think we can take great pride in. At Transfiguration I feel God’s presence both in the worship service and through the many friends and fellow parishioners that we have come to know. My goal as a Vestry member would be to help the church grow in numbers so that others may likewise have that experience, and to continue to promote our outreach programs.
