(From January 2008) My name is Jeannette Conklin and I am running for the position of Day Care Board member. I have been a member of Transfiguration for 19 years, when we moved into the area. I’ve been married to Rick Conklin for 36 years and we have four children ranging in age from 30 to 19, and a 1-year old grandchild (with one on the way). I am a registered nurse and have worked with children in one capacity or another for most of my 35-year career. Currently, I am employed in the maternal/child area of the hospital where I care for post partum mother and their infants or in the NICU (neonatal intensive care). At Transfiguration I have been a member of the Children and Youth Ministry Committee for many years. As you can see, my life revolves around children. I love working with them and caring for them, and I think that’s what I would bring to this committee, a genuine interest in the welfare of the children. I know our day care enjoys a strong reputation in the industry and fulfills an important role in our church’s outreach to the community. If elected to the Day Care Board, I would try my best to maintain this reputation and improve upon it if possible.
