Information:
(From January 2010) My husband, daughter and I have been members here at Transfiguration for about 17 years. We came from a United Methodist congregation, and were looking for a nearby family-oriented church, as our daughter would soon be ready to begin church school. We found what we were looking for at Transfiguration. We were warmly welcomed and found that we fit in well with many other young families here. I think this is where our church’s strength lies, in the fact that we have been able to continually bring in new families who become active in a variety of ways as their children grow up in the church.

I have been active at Transfiguration in many ways myself, including serving on the Vestry, participating on the Children and Youth Committee for several years, serving as a Church School Superintendent with Joan Karrison, and serving on the Memorial Garden Committee since its inception. I am a Daughter of the King in our St. Monica’s chapter, and am honored to pray daily for the people for whom we receive requests. I have also, at various times, served as an usher and greeter.

In the past, I worked as an elementary school teacher. I have been at the Orland Park Library for thirteen years, the last eight in the Youth Services Department. My work involves a lot of contact with the public, especially parents and children, which I enjoy immensely. I see a lot of diversity at the library, and I think it is our challenge here at Transfiguration to celebrate our unity as a congregation while accommodating a variety of diverse people, thoughts and opinions.
