Christ tells us that when we feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked, care for the sick, and visit prisoners, we are serving Christ himself. Matthew 25
Transfiguration parishioners generously and enthusiastically answer the call to break down the walls that divide God's people through our participation in outreach ministries including the Sharon Louise Irvine Fund's support of the Palos Park Episcopal Day Care and Learning Center, our partnership with Iglesia La Transfiguración in the Diocese of Southeast Mexico, our collections for the Cathedral Shelter Christmas Baskets Program, our sponsorship of immigrant families through the Interfaith Refugee & Immigration Ministries, and our service to the Charles Pond Soup Kitchen at Saints George and Matthias Episcopal Church in Chicago; through the work of our Caring Committee and the Daughters of the King; and through our monthly worship with residents of Peace Village in Palos Park. Through our annual budget and through special appeals, we've offered financial support to the ministries of the Diocese of Chicago, Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, Episcopal Relief and Development, Heifer Project International, Habitat for Humanity, the Diocese of Renk (Sudan), and the United Thank Offering. Our Outreach Committee awards grants to organizations exercising ministry in our community and around the world.
